Boca Raton city officials have unanimously approved the revised plans for Camino Square Phase 2, a significant development at 171 West Camino Real.
The updated proposal includes two eight-story buildings housing 374 residential units and 23,368 square feet of retail space, transforming the site of a former Winn-Dixie supermarket.
This decision follows the rejection of an earlier plan that proposed fewer retail spaces.
During the meeting, Mayor Scott Singer praised the developers for adapting to market conditions and highlighted their commitment to infrastructure improvements.
He noted that this is the first applicant in the city's history to dedicate $3 million to road enhancements.
The approved plan reduces the number of residential units from 394 to 374 and increases retail space from 8,632 to 23,368 square feet.
The buildings will reach a maximum height of 97 feet, 8 inches, with the majority of the space dedicated to residential use.
Additional modifications include a slight reduction in driveway width, the abandonment of certain utility easements, and a $15,000 contribution toward pedestrian safety measures.
The development will feature a seven-story parking deck with 793 spaces and ample open space, including a central courtyard designed to serve as a community gathering place.
City officials expressed support for the project, emphasizing its alignment with the city's vision for a vibrant downtown area.
The unanimous approval marks a significant step forward in Boca Raton's ongoing development efforts. |
