Boca Raton Advances Delray Manors Infrastructure Overhaul

City Council Approves Design Contract for Comprehensive Neighborhood Upgrades

Boca Raton is taking significant steps to enhance the Delray Manors neighborhood by approving a comprehensive infrastructure project.

The City Council has unanimously awarded a $379,423 contract to Craven Thompson & Associates of Fort Lauderdale for the engineering and design of this multifaceted initiative.

This project, part of the Innovative Sustainable Infrastructure Program (ISIP), aims to consolidate various infrastructure improvements into a single, cost-effective endeavor.

Key components include the replacement and upsizing of 21,500 feet of water mains within city rights-of-way.

Existing pipes, ranging from 4 to 12 inches in diameter, will be upgraded to a minimum of 6 inches, enhancing water service reliability.

Additionally, the project encompasses the relocation and installation of fire hydrants, abandonment of outdated water mains, and restoration of affected properties.

Residents will also benefit from roadway enhancements, including milling and resurfacing of local streets, and the repair or replacement of sidewalks to address safety concerns.

Specific areas targeted for sidewalk improvements include northbound N. Dixie Highway between Newcastle Street and Jeffery Street, Coventry Street, and eastbound Kingsbridge Street east of Nottingham Road.

To ensure accessibility, the project will install or replace ADA-compliant ramps where necessary.

Drainage and swale improvements are also planned to enhance stormwater management.

Advanced technologies such as mobile LIDAR, ground-penetrating radar, and geotechnical mapping will be employed to develop precise engineering plans.

These tools will aid in drafting bid specifications for the forthcoming construction phase.

This initiative reflects Boca Raton's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and improving the quality of life for Delray Manors residents.

By integrating multiple upgrades into a single project, the city aims to minimize disruptions and maximize efficiency.

Residents can anticipate a more resilient and accessible neighborhood upon completion.
