Boca Raton introduces MiCa, its first autonomous shuttle, enhancing downtown mobility. |
Boca Raton is embracing the future of transportation with the launch of MiCa, the city's inaugural autonomous shuttle service.
Developed in collaboration with Guident Corp. and Circuit Transit, Inc., MiCa offers residents and visitors a sustainable, technology-driven option for navigating downtown.
The shuttle operates on a 0.6-mile loop within Mizner Park, providing a convenient alternative for short local trips.
MiCa utilizes Guident's Remote Monitoring and Control Center (RMCC) Platform, combining advanced autonomous systems with real-time human oversight to ensure safety and efficiency.
Initially, a safety operator will be on board, with plans to transition to full autonomy as the service progresses.
City officials view this initiative as a significant step toward smarter and more sustainable urban mobility.
Future plans include expanding MiCa's route to a 2.6-mile loop connecting Mizner Park to Royal Palm Place, further enhancing connectivity within Boca Raton's downtown area.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to experience MiCa firsthand and participate in this innovative transportation solution.
For more information on MiCa's schedule and routes, visit the city's official channels. |
