Two high-profile models are suing a Boca Raton nightclub, claiming their images were used without permission in club promotions.

Janet Guzman and Antje Utgaard filed suit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, targeting One11 Boca LLC, now known as Boca Luna Luxe Lounge.

The lawsuit accuses the club of deploying their likenesses to attract customers, making it appear as though both models endorsed local events and specials.

Guzman is famous for her work with Fashion Nova and has over 2 million Instagram followers, while Utgaard, dubbed “The Next Kate Upton,” boasts more than 7 million social media fans.

The suit alleges the club used Guzman’s photo repeatedly in 2023 and even altered Utgaard’s image for a holiday event.

Attorneys say these actions led to wrongful profits and violated Florida privacy laws.

Kelly Ann Boyle, 41, a wealth manager from Highland Beach, was arrested early Saturday morning in Boca Raton after police found her unconscious behind the wheel of her running Maserati near 100 West Palmetto Park Road.

Officers reported that the car was still in gear and Boyle appeared disoriented upon waking.

She told police she had been celebrating her birthday at a local restaurant and had consumed several drinks, including mango margaritas and wine.

Noting her bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and alcohol odor, officers requested Field Sobriety Exercises, which Boyle refused before becoming irate.

She resisted arrest, leading to charges of DUI and resisting an officer without violence.

At booking, Boyle’s breath test results exceeded the legal limit.

She was released on $2,000 bond, with a court date set for mid-December.

This incident highlights the importance of safe choices regarding alcohol and driving in our community.

Boca Helping Hands is rallying local support for its 21st annual Thanksgiving Box Brigade, aiming to deliver festive meals to 4,000 families struggling with hunger in Palm Beach County.

As food insecurity persists — affecting one in nine residents — the need for community assistance remains urgent.

Each Thanksgiving box, filled with a turkey and traditional sides, promises families a chance to gather and celebrate the holiday.

Residents can make a direct impact with a $29.72 donation, enough to provide a full meal box, or join as volunteers on distribution days.

Drive-thru pickups will take place November 22 and 23 at five convenient locations: east and west Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Lake Worth.

Andrew Hagen, the organization’s Executive Director, thanked supporters for helping create memorable holidays for local families in need.

  • Downtown Boca Raton Plan: Enhancing Sustainability and Livability with Mixed-Use Development
  • Boca Raton Developer Seeks Approval for 394 Apartment Towers in Place of Retail Space Amid Resident Concerns

Developers have unveiled a revised downtown Boca Raton plan, designed to address local concerns and strengthen the city’s heart.

The latest proposal outlines 769 apartments, 196 condos, a 180-room hotel, and generous green spaces, alongside restaurants, shops, and 150,000 square feet of office or commercial space.

Private development will occupy seven acres east of NW 2nd Avenue, near the Brightline station.

On the west side, only public amenities are planned, including an upgraded Memorial Park, new city hall, and recreation facilities—fully under city control.

Updated building heights, expanded greenways, and preservation of mature Banyan trees respond to neighborhood feedback.

Projected revenue over 99 years exceeds $3.8 billion, supporting city parks and facilities.

Despite revisions, resident opposition remains intense, with renewed calls for public votes as the city council prepares a special session on November 4 for further discussion.

A Boca Raton developer is seeking permission to build 394 apartments in eight-story towers instead of retail space in an empty lot off Federal Highway.

The proposal also includes a rooftop pool and parking garage.

The developer argues that there is not enough demand for retail in the area, so apartments would be more profitable.

The city has not yet approved the request, as some residents are concerned about the impact on traffic and the neighborhood's character.

Building a Survival Kit for Your Vehicle in Florida

Whether you're commuting across town or exploring Florida’s coastlines and backroads, keeping a well-stocked vehicle survival kit can make the difference between a minor inconvenience and a serious emergency.

Florida’s heat, sudden storms, and occasional flooding mean your kit should focus on hydration, sun protection, and items that help you stay safe if you’re stranded.

  • Water & Hydration: At least 2–4 liters of bottled water per person (rotate periodically).

Include electrolyte packets for hot-weather emergencies.
  • Food & Energy: Nonperishable, high-calorie snacks (energy bars, nuts, dried fruit).

Replace every 6–12 months as needed.
  • First Aid Kit: Comprehensive kit with adhesive bandages, sterile gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, antihistamine, pain reliever, and any personal prescription meds.
  • Shelter & Warmth: Emergency Mylar blanket(s), compact sleeping bag or lightweight blanket, and a waterproof tarp — useful during unexpected overnight waits or storm sheltering.
  • Sun & Rain Protection: Broad-spectrum sunscreen, wide-brim hat or cap, sunglasses, and a lightweight rain poncho or packable rain jacket.
  • Lighting & Power: Reliable flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries, and a USB power bank for charging phones (keep it charged).
  • Tools & Repair: Multi-tool, pocket knife, tire pressure gauge, portable air compressor or tire inflator, plug-and-seal tire repair kit, and duct tape.
  • Recovery & Signaling: Tow strap/rope, jumper cables, reflective triangle/flares, high-visibility vest, and a whistle for signaling rescuers.
  • Navigation & Communication: Paper maps of your area, a compass, and a car charger for your phone.

Consider a battery-powered or hand-crank NOAA weather radio.
  • Vehicle Care: Small container of engine coolant/antifreeze, motor oil, spare fuses, and a basic set of tools (screwdriver, pliers, adjustable wrench).
  • Comfort & Hygiene: Wet wipes, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, extra socks, a change of lightweight clothing, and insect repellent (mosquitoes are common in Florida).
  • Documents & Cash: Waterproof pouch with driver’s license, insurance card, vehicle registration, emergency contact list, and some cash (small bills).
  • Special Considerations: If you travel with children, pets, or have medical needs, include appropriate supplies (child snacks, pet water bowl, meds, copies of prescriptions).

Tip: Store items in a sturdy, waterproof container and keep the kit secured in the trunk or cargo area.

Check your kit seasonally — replace expired food, batteries, and medications, and top off the power bank so it’s ready when you need it.

⚠️ Safety: In Florida, never drive through standing or flowing floodwater — six inches can stall a car and deeper water can sweep it away.

If stranded, stay with your vehicle whenever safe (it’s easier for rescuers to spot) unless staying put puts you at risk (rising water, fire, or hazardous surroundings).

Call emergency services when in doubt and avoid attempting roadside repairs in unsafe areas or at night without proper visibility and signaling.
